What is the Child Care
Food Program? (CCFP)
CCFP is a United States Department
of Agriculture (USDA) child nutrition program.
One goal of CCFP is to ensure that
children receive healthy, nutritious food during the day.
It is important for children to receive enough calories,
protein, Vitamin C, Vitamin A, and iron daily.
Go Kids, Inc. is a sponsor for CCFP and therefore, must
follow CCFP guidelines in order to be reimbursed for the
meals we serve to enrolled children at our centers. As
a sponsor, we are reviewed every couple of years to ensure
that Go Kids, Inc. is abiding by the guidelines set forth
by the food program.
Go Kids child care centers ensure quality health
and safety practices. We start with a clean, healthy environment.
We use a bleach solution to disinfect table, chairs, furniture
and materials. Adults enforce hand-washing procedures.
All staff participates in
a new hire orientation., which includes a health and
safety component. Three agency representatives have
been trained as Health Linkages Health Consutants and
act as trainers, and are avaialable for technical assistance
when a concern arises.
Daily health checks, exposure
notices and active collaboration with the Santa Clara
and San Benito Health Departments promote current skill
implementation.
We adhere to the California
Child Care Food Program to ensure nurtritious meals
and snacks are prepared and served for the children.
Health and nutrition education is integrated into our
curriculum to promote healthy skill development and
practices.
